I would like to apply to get an Iron Ring. How do I do this?
If you graduated from an engineering program outside of Canada, or did not attend a ceremony at the time of your graduation from an accredited engineering program in Canada, you must attend an Obligation Ceremony as a ‘senior’ candidate. In order to be invited to a ceremony, a senior candidate must complete an application between April 1st and June 30th in advance of the Senior Ceremony held in October of each year. Applications are not accepted between July and September for the current year. The cost for the application is $50.00 including HST.
Please return to this page in April to complete your application.
You will need to demonstrate that you have met the educational requirements for engineers in Canada by providing evidence of licensure as a Professional Engineer (or registration as an Engineer in Training) with a provincial engineering licensing body. Your registration number is required for this purpose. Please visit your local jewellery store to determine the correct ring size for the ‘pinky’ finger of your working hand.
If you are registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with a provincial engineering licensing body, you will need to contact the Registrar’s office of the licensing body to obtain a letter stating that the academic requirements of an accredited engineering program have been met. Please forward this letter electronically to email@example.com after completing your application.
For other details about applying for a ring can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions. Please call the Iron Ring office if you require any further information.
