I would like to apply to get an Iron Ring. How do I do this?
If you graduated from either a masters engineering program or an engineering program outside of Canada, you must attend an Obligation Ceremony as a ‘senior’ candidate. If you did not attend a ceremony at the time of your graduation from an accredited undergraduate engineering program in Canada, please contact your engineering department to arrange to attend an Obligation Ceremony as a ‘senior’ candidate.
In order to be invited to a ceremony, a senior candidate must complete an application between April 1st and June 30th in advance of the Senior Ceremony held in the Autumn of each year. Applications are not accepted outside of this time-frame. The exact date of the next ‘senior’ ceremony will be posted to our Frequently Asked Questions page, once confirmed. The cost for the application is $50.00 including HST. Please visit your local jewellery store to determine the correct ring size for the ‘pinky’ finger of your working hand.
Please return to this page in April to complete your application.
You will need to demonstrate that you have met the academic requirements for engineers in Canada by providing evidence of licensure as a Professional Engineer (or registration as an Engineer in Training) with a provincial engineering licensing body. Your registration number is required for this purpose.
If you are registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with a provincial engineering licensing body, you will need to contact the Registrar’s office of the licensing body to obtain a letter stating that the academic requirements of an accredited engineering program have been met. Please forward this letter electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org after completing your application.
Other details about applying for a ring can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions. Please call the Iron Ring office if you require any further information.
